Junghans is Official Timing Partner for the World Nordic Ski and Luge World Championships 2019

Uhrenfabrik Junghans will begin the new year in sporty fashion as sponsor for timing at the 52nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld, Austria and the 48th FIL Luge World Cup in Winterberg, Germany. Managing director of Junghans Matthias Stotz explains "As a company hailing from the Black Forest, a region steeped in the tradition of winter sports, we are ex-tremely happy to be given the opportunity of supporting the World Championships". "In this regard, we will also be holding with tradition as Junghans enjoys an historical milestone in sports timekeeping." As official timekeeper at the Olympic Games in Munich, new technical measures were set in this area by the watch manufacturer in 1972.

FIS Nordic World Ski Championships

Junghans will be in attendance from the 19th February 2019 to the 3rd March 2019 to measure the times of the top 700 athletes from 60 nations in ski jumping, cross-country skiing and in the Nordic combination. As is the case in every World Championships, the competitor who has jumped the furthest or was the quickest to complete the cross-country skiing run at the end of the games will have given their all – and the German athletes will be justified in hoping that it is they that walk away with a medal. As Official Timing Partner, Junghans will be showcased to the spectators in Seefeld, as well as on television with the broadcasting of all contests. Addi-tionally, the Schramberg company will be awarding their own Junghans Award for the skijumping disciplines.

Limited edition

In recognition of the world championships, Junghans will unveil a limited, special sporty edition: the WM-Edition 1972 Chronoscope Quartz. Themed around the 52nd World Championships of the FIS, the official WM-Edition of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 is limited to precisely 52 units. The colour scheme of the watch follows the logo of the winter sport event and exhibits the colours red, light blue and white in the strap and the dial. The emblem of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is engraved on the back of the case as an enduring memory.

Junghans Award

A special distinction is also being reserved by Junghans for the ski-jumpers: the Junghans Award. The athletes who achieve the overall greatest distance in their first and second individual jumps are thus distinguished in the games. A particular feature of this contest is that the distance of the jump solely decides the winner – without any adjudication of the judges and deduction of points as a result of favourable upwinds. The award will be presented immediately following conclusion of the podium ceremony. Junghans will present one of the limited edition watches as a prize to the winners.

Exciting times: FIL Luge World Championships

The luge event requires absolute commitment in order to maintain an ideal line in the ice channel: Speed, technique, power and riding experience are vital for success. Junghans will be in attendance as Official Timing Partner in Winterberg between the 25th and the 27th of January 2019 for the 48th FIL Luge World Cup. As the most important international luge event since the Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, the World Championships in Winterberg are of particu-lar significance for the 120 athletes from 24 nations.

Junghans wishes all participating athletes the best of success in competition and maximum times in each of the two World Championships.
