Pink is the fun color of the summer – and not only that: this hue is guaranteed to spread good cheer all year round. Junghans celebrates this with the limited Pink Edition of its striking chronograph 1972 Competition, which already carries the “competition” part in its name. A general love of sport and a particular love of sports timing have long traditions at Junghans, beginning in the 1920s with the first hand-operated stopwatches and continuing in the twentieth century with big sporting events. The apex was without a doubt the year 1972, which has now lent its name to this sporty line of watches. And the 2024 edition in pink captures the spirit of the times with a new, dynamic look: The players of the German national soccer team are wearing pink. The winner of the professional cycling race Giro d’Italia wears pink. And so will other athletes who will soon be descending on Paris for the biggest sporting event of the year.

And now a new highlight joins the team, the basis of which is formed by the 1972 Competition, which, like the classic stopwatches that came before it, carries its crown and chronograph button on top of the satin-finished stainless-steel case. In combination with its powerful, slightly oval case shape this watch is a dynamic face in the crowd, standing out even more thanks to its strong color. The dial and perforated strap bask in their pink glow-ups, while the vertically arranged chronograph counters and tachymeter scale around the perimeter of the dial are set off in black. And this play of color continues in the strap.

Sporty, extravagant, suitable for daily use

Despite all the extravagance of the 100-piece limited edition model, this watch remains a real Junghans with all the comfort and suitability for daily wear that comes with that. A sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on both sides and striking hands inlaid with luminous substance ensure optimal legibility. The stainless-steel case remains water- and pressure-tight to 10 bar. And a polished, ergonomically shaped case back in combination with the strap and buckle ensures comfort that excels.

Automatic Caliber J880.5 powers the watch, which boasts 48 hours of power reserve, and short-term time measurement allows the timing of sports events up to 30 minutes. This watch is more than just a sporty timekeeper, though. It is an expression of individuality and self-confidence. And naturally also sportiness – which is why you need to be fast if you want one: the 1972 Competition Pink Edition is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide.
