    In 1888 Junghans registers a new trademark that is indicative of the new mood of confidence at the company. The five-pointed star with the letter "J" in the middle makes its first appearance. Two years later the star, which represents a stylised gear wheel, is eight pointed and receives the addition of the rest of the brand name to go with the initial.
