• In the 1930s Junghans begins to fit movements of its own design and manufacture in wristwatches. The first movement with then indirect, central second appears in 1936 and is powered by the J80 calibre. Its finest version receives the designation J80/2 and is refined with Côtes de Genève. This becomes the heartbeat of the watches of the "Meister" series.

At the same time Junghans begins a special approach to welcoming guests: Junghans puts young employees in alarm clock costumes to boost advertising. Hats take the form of alarm bells. The legendary 16 weckermädle alarm girls prove an eye-catcher and the pictures are reproduced around the world.
